JPEG: the familiar photograph
JPEG is a practical option for photographs and richly shaded images. Its compression is lossy, so compare the result at the size people will actually see it. Repeatedly editing and saving a JPEG can accumulate visible losses.
In this studio, transparent areas are filled with white before JPEG export.
PNG: keep the edges clear
PNG uses lossless compression and supports transparency. It is useful for graphics, diagrams and images where crisp edges matter. A photographic PNG can be much larger than a comparable JPEG or WebP.
The quality slider does not change PNG encoding here.
PNG / W3C ->WebP: a flexible everyday option
WebP supports both lossy and lossless compression, as well as transparency. Browser and publishing-tool support should be checked for the destination you have in mind. This studio uses your browser's WebP encoder when available.
Use the exported file size and the visible result to compare settings.
WebP / Google for Developers ->What this studio keeps
RasterParcel draws the decoded image onto a browser canvas. The prepared copy contains the resulting pixels, not the original metadata or animation. Colour rendering and format support depend on your browser. Keep the original if those details matter.
